What should you expect when visiting
Lakewood Presbyterian Church?
We are known in the community as: open, inclusive, and affirming.
All are welcome whether you're in a dress and suit or in cutoffs and a t-shirt.
Bring the kids! They'll join a spirited group of playmates in a loving environment.
Our Building on Sunday
There are two entrances to our building via the lower and upper parking lot. Both entrances are fully handicap accessible. The upper parking lot takes you directly to the sanctuary. Most of our members park in the lower parking lot and enter through the side door by the Fellowship Hall. This door takes you to a lobby and up a short flight of stairs (or ramp) into the sanctuary. At the entrance to the sanctuary, you can grab a bulletin and find a spot in the pews.
Children on Sundays
Children are a big part of our community culture! They are welcome to join us for worship or visit the nursery. We often have between 5-10 children under age 10 in worship. For more information, see our Children’s Page.
Theology
Lakewood Presbyterian Church is a part of the Presbyterian Church (USA). We are a Reformed, Protestant denomination that is forever being reformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. LPC is an open and affirming congregation that is committed to the full inclusion and celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community.
We are a member of More Light Presbyterians and Presbyterians for Earth Care. For more information about the beliefs of the PC(USA), click here.
Fellowship
After worship, you are invited to join us for an informal coffee hour in the Fellowship Hall for coffee and snacks. If you’d like a follow up or visit from the pastor, let her know on Sunday or send her an email.
Worship Style
Our worship service follows a traditional, Reformed worship style in a relaxed atmosphere. Casual attire is worn by most people and the sounds of children rustling in their seats are to be expected. Bulletins detail the liturgy, which includes responsive elements such as a Call to Worship and Affirmation of Faith. A pianist accompanies the hymns, which are typically from the Glory to God hymnal. Communion is served on the first of every month and baptisms are performed on an as-needed basis.
Our Playground
Families, join us after worship at the playground! In fact, you're welcome to use our playground as a member of our Lakewood community any day of the week after 1p.
